Note: This information applies to staff employees who work more than 17.5 hours only. For faculty, please see the faculty handbook for the faculty member’s school. For post-doc scholars, please see the post-doc handbook. Student workers are not eligible for paid personal days.
Full-time Tufts employees receive two (2) personal days (per fiscal year, July 1-June 30) and is applied on 7/1 every year in the time off system. Part-time and part-year employees receive pro-rated personal days based on their regular work schedule. These days must be used each year and do not accrue. Unused personal days are not paid upon termination. When scheduling a personal day, employees are expected to give their supervisor sufficient notice.
During the first year of employment, employees hired between July 1 and December 31 will receive two (2) personal days Employees hired between January 1 and March 30 will receive one (1) personal day Personal days may not be utilized during the probationary period. (Employee Handbook)
