Dick Doolin

Sr. Director, Tufts Support Services

Dick Doolin serves as Senior Director of TSS. Dick has worked at Tufts for many years in a number of finance positions, most recently as the Director of Financial Services. His experience at the university covers a broad range of activities that will be supported by TSS. His management of Financial Services included oversight of disbursements, financial systems, post award research administration as well as oversight of the Bursar operations. All of these responsibilities focusing on Tufts community support and service. Dick served on the University Credit Union Board of Directors as Treasurer and a member of its Executive Committee and has been a long standing member of the University Controllers Group, NACUBO and NCURA. A resident of metro west Dick is married and has four children.

Melanie Foley

Director of Community Support Services

Melanie Foley, Director of Community Support Services, joined Tufts University in November 2014. She brings over ten years of support services experience to her position, after having worked previously at On Call International, a 24/7 medical assistance company, where she lead a team of 70 Operations staff. Her expertise includes exceptional service to the community, recruiting and training, coaching and development and continuous improvement. As the Director of Community Support Services, Melanie will manage daily TSS activity, ensuring the staff provides the highest level of support to the Tufts community . Melanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Providence College. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, kickboxing, and trivia.

Peter Barone

Director of Finance Support Services

Directing the Finance Support Services (Accounts Payable, Travel & Expense, and Procurement staff) is Peter Barone. During Peter’s 26 years at Tufts he has been instrumental in the development and implementation of all procurement-related processes currently being utilized, such as the P-Card system, PeopleSoft, e-Expense and e-Req. In June 2012, Peter was honored with the Tufts Distinction Award alongside his disbursements team. A life-long resident of the South-shore, Peter enjoys fishing and reading. He is married with two sons and three grandchildren.

Shelby Christian

Director of HR Operations

Shelby Christian, who joined Tufts in July 2017, serves as the Director of HR Operations. She is responsible for overseeing payroll, benefits administration and compensation tax management, and brings to the university a great deal of experience in managing these critical operations. Shelby comes to us from Presidio Networked Solutions where she was the Director of Payroll - overseeing the payroll department, 401(k) administration and employment tax reporting. Prior to that she was Manager of North America Payroll for Bain & Company dealing with international employee transfers and tax issues. Shelby has a bit of higher education experience as well working as Payroll Manager at Babson prior to Bain. She holds a BA in Management from the University of Portland (Oregon) and is a Certified Payroll Professional with the American Payroll Association.
