Tips & Tricks for support:
- Verifying an I-9 with a Permanent Resident Card? Section 2 is not looking for the USCIS number. (The constituent enters the USCIS number in section 1.) The number that we enter is on the back of the card. At the bottom of the card, there are 3 lines. On the top line, it says C1USA and there is a long series of numbers and some letters. Look for the next three letters in a row after C1USA followed by 10 numbers and that is what we enter.
- NO SSN: See Access Tufts Page or Student Social Security Number Process/Temporary Social Security Number
- NEW SSN: If someone has received their SSN, please notify I-9Everywhere so a corrective I-9 may be completed.
I-9 Re-Verification
- NEW NAME: If an employee changes their name legally, they must complete Section 3 of their I-9.
- NEW IMMIGRATION STATUS: If an employee receives their Green Card (Permanent Residency)/Citizenship or has a change in visa type (going from F1 to J1, for example), we must have them complete a New (corrective) I-9.
- NEW WORK AUTHORIZATION DOCUMENTATION: If an employee's work authorization has been extended, we must have them complete Section 3 of their I-9 before their current documentation expires.
