Audience: Audience: All employees who are covered by the employee handbook, not by CBA or contract employment
(Note: Faculty time off varies by school)
Staff: any benefits-eligible employee who has standard hours of 17.5 hours/week or more and is not otherwise covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Postdoctoral scholars’ hiring practices are outlined in the postdoc handbook. Faculty should refer to the by-laws of their primary school affiliation for guidance.
Full-time Tufts employees receive two (2) personal days (per fiscal year, July 1-June 30) and is applied on 7/1 every year in the time off system. Part-time and part-year employees receive pro-rated personal days based on their regular work schedule. These days must be used each year and do not accrue. Unused personal days are not paid upon termination. When scheduling a personal day, employees are expected to give their supervisor sufficient notice.
During the first year of employment, employees hired between July 1 and December 31 will receive two (2) personal days Employees hired between January 1 and March 30 will receive one (1) personal day awarded at date of hire. Personal days may not be utilized during the probationary period.
