Abandoned property is defined as personal property left or unused by an owner. In order to comply with the Massachusetts Abandoned Property Law, Tufts University must conduct a review of credit balances and uncashed checks at the university. State law requires us to report and remit such property to the Abandoned Property Division in the Department of the State Treasurer after a dormancy period of three years.
