    About your automatic enrollment in the 403(b) Retirement Plan

    All Temp hires and rehires will be automatically enrolled with a 6% contribution in the 403(b) plan after 35 days of employment. If you wish to choose another deferral percentage or opt out of this benefit (0%), you must change your election accordingly during your initial 35-day enrollment period. All changes will be made effective with the next available payroll. 

    Once your 403(b) contribution is processed, it cannot be refunded until you are eligible for a distribution. You may increase or decrease your 403(b) deferral at any time in the future. All changes will be effective with the next available payroll.

    * Under the Affordable Health Care Act (ACA), if an employee does not have health coverage through their employer, Medicare, Medicaid, etc., they may be able to obtain affordable coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace.  Health insurance obtained through the Marketplace is usually based on income.  You should go to www.healthcare.gov for more information.  Temporary employees who meet the ACA criteria will be offered health coverage at Tufts University.

    ** If a temporary employees completes 1,000 hours of service during the calendar year, they may be entitled to a contribution to the Tufts-Funded Retirement Plan 401(a).

    *** Under the Affordable Care Act criteria, Non-Benefits Eligible Employees such as Temporary Employees, can earn up to 40 hours of paid sick time per benefit (fiscal) year (July 1 through June 30).  Sick time will accrue at the rate of one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked per fiscal year, up to a maximum of 40 hours.
